Hager connection gear leaves single external lights free for maintenance

Hager has launched its weatherproof IP66 Klik connection system for external lighting connections.

Klik lighting connectors provide on-load isolation so individual fittings can be unplugged for maintenance at ground level without having to isolate the entire circuit at the distribution board.

Hager product manager Mike Biggs says: “External lights are often on sensors or timers, so it can be hard to make sure they are off-load when a contractor works on them. A secure plug and socket interface sorts it.”

Contractors can order prewired Klik plugs so that the light fitting can be hardwired at ground level. The light fitting is then secured to the wall or other surface and plugged into the IP66-protected socket.

The weatherproof unit contains two sockets. The rear box is mounted on a vertical wall. Knockouts on the top, side or bottom of the box give a choice of cable entry. These can be knocked out for a 20 mm conduit, or drilled.

The unit has a strong metal hinge and neoprene seals.
