Kier Building Maintenance has given 300 of its workers PDAs so that they don’t have to come into the office to receive instructions in the morning, or to fill out paperwork in the evening.

The plan is to hand out 200 more to workers on big housing maintenance projects by the end of the year.

Kier has worked out that for every 42 PDAs handed out, the savings in fuel and natural resources equates to one tree saved a year. For the techies among you, Kier is using the Callysys scheduling system and Pervasic mobile data platform through the Orange Service Accelerator.
