Pane relief: Friendship House, a 180-room hostel aimed at young people working in Southwark, south London, opened its doors at the end of last month.

London Hostels Association commissioned architect MacCormac Jamieson Prichard to design the scheme, which was officially opened by Sophie, Countess of Wessex, on 21 June.

People who want to stay in the hostel must give a deposit of £50 but can move out after only one week's notice.
