One of the South’s most active registered social landlords has used Avko Limited’s special paint formulation for colouring PVC-U window frames on a sensitive refurbishment project.
Western Challenge Housing Association’s Biddlegate Court and Postern Court properties in Southampton have had their ageing timber windows replaced by Glaze For Trade Limited. To preserve the aesthetic integrity of the fenestration in a conservation area, the Poole based window fabricator called on the services of Avko’s approved applicator, Advanced Coatings, to finish all of the frames in a cream colour using Avkote LE.

Glaze For Trade’s Commercial Manager, David Hillier, comments: ‘The contract we undertook for Western Challenge at Bidlesgate Court and Postern Court involved the supply and installation of mainly tilt and turn windows – produced using our 60 mm Rehau system – to replace old wood painted frames.

‘Because the pair of large four storey buildings are within the heritage area of Southampton, and are regarded as a ‘statement of their day’, the client wanted to keep the appearance the same. The RAL 1015 Cream was therefore specified as the best match.

Spray applied and touch dry within a few minutes, Avkote LE cures over 24 hours to form a fully bonded, tough and very durable finish. It is maintenance free and resistant to physical abrasion thanks to its two pack polyurethane/acrylic formulation. Customers can specify any of the RAL or BS colours for the decoration of doors, windows, conservatories, roofline products or any other PVC-U components.
