Paddle power: Residents of the UK's largest retirement village enjoy a canoeing expedition organised by their new landlord, Arena Housing Association, a subsidiary of Arena Extracare. Arena's £19.5m Ryfields Village development in Warrington, Cheshire, has now been completed and can house more than 300 elderly people. It offers care and support, shops, restaurants, a village hall, an IT suite and fitness studios. In addition, the residents can also set up their own clubs and choose excursions as pictured opposite. Sheffield council has selected Arena Extracare as joint-commissioning partners for a similar scheme in the city.
