LG Electronics has launched a range of air conditioning heat pump units suitable for wall or ceiling mounting. The four model range has outputs of 5 kW, 7 kW, 10 kW and 14 kW.
All models feature infrared control; four way louvre airflow; concealed supports for increased adaptability and versatility; universal mounting brackets; auto restart; diagnostic functions and flexibility of siting to suit almost any application.
The units are fitted with low ambient controllers to enable the units to operate down to –10°C in cooling mode.
Preventing burn-out
JS Humidifiers' Neptronic SKE resistive steam humidifier controls humidity to within +/-1%rh and delivers up to 80 kg of steam per hour from a single unit. One of the key features of the unit is its anti-foaming energy conservation system which protects the heating elements from burning out. The system has three safety features to monitor the water level and save energy: an internal electronic water level sensor that prevents the elements being exposed to the air; internal and external temperature sensors for double security; and an internal foam sensor that initiates a system drain only on foam formation avoiding preset, regular drain cycles and saving expensive boiling water. Other features include self-cleaning incoloy elements that repel scale, a scale inhibitor and stainless steel evaporation chamber.
Dutch boilers
Dutch company Atag Heating has entered the UK sector with the launch of a range of condensing boilers. All versions are SEDBUK class A rated and feature fully modulated output. The ATAG Premier covers outputs from 3·5 kW to 33·6 kW, while the S-HR Blauwe Engel range spans 3·5 kW to 57·2 kW.
The company claims low emissions with high efficiencies for both ranges. This is achieved via the integration of smooth tube stainless steel heat exchangers with precise control and monitoring of outside weather temperatures and system conditions. Boilers can modulate from 16% to 100% of boiler output, tracing the heat demand line and reducing the number of firing cycles.
Turn up the heat
Beeston Heating has launched the 120C, a pre-mix fully modulating wall mounted condensing boiler. Suitable for larger commercial applications it has outputs of 60 kW, 80 kW, 100 kW and 120 kW, The boiler qualifies for enhanced capital allowances and incorporates a stainless steel heat exchanger. The unit has a claimed efficiency of 109% and a Class 5 product rating with low emission levels.
Open-bus communications means that it can be matched with almost any control system.
Ultra slim inverters
Honeywell has launched the NXL Series of compact inverters for motor drive control. The range is suitable for speed control in a range of applications including pumps, fans and compressors.
The ultra-slim units – down to 60 mm wide – reduce the space occupied by the inverters. The range is optimised for low motor powers from 0·37 kW to 30 kW (380-500 V) and 0·25 kW to 15 kW (208-240V). A modular construction allows fast installation and easy service and maintenance in the field. Units feature programmable input/output, a pump/fan control interface with autochange and a pid controller with sleep function. Programming and commissioning is straightforward using either a detachable seven-segment keypad or pc tool. The standard input/output configuration includes two analogue inputs, one analogue output, 3+1 digital inputs, one relay output and RS485 with built-in Modbus.
Long range detection
Bosch Security Systems has added to its range of intrusion detectors with the DS778 passive infrared detector. The unit is approved to EN 50131-3 and is suitable for long-range detection, being capable of providing protection for internal areas up to 60 m long and 5·7 m wide, with heights of up to 3 m.
One feature of the unit is a built-in led that is visible throughout the entire coverage area. This allows a single person to accurately install and walk test the detector. Other features include internally pointable optics and four flexible mounting options. The DS778 also features Bocsh's patented Motion Analyser II Signal Processing (MAP II) fuzzy logic technology which analyses any detection incident to eliminate false alarms.
York adds to ahu range
The Climaster ZCF is the latest addition to York Novenco's range of commercial air handling units. The Climaster ZCF has a newly developed fan designed to operate with low sound and low power consumption, claims the company. Anti-vibration mountings are fitted to the fan which is connected directly to the motor with a frequency inverter attached. The unit can be supplied with a cross-flow plate or rotary wheel heat exchanger, with built in pocket filters and water or electric heating coils. The heat exchangers have typical efficiencies of 60% or 75% respectively. There are four sizes available, offering capacities from 0·10 m3/s to 1·50 m3/s.
Condensa boilers
Lochinvar has launched the Condensa range of wall hung condensing boilers. The range comprises three models with outputs of 23 kW, 32 kW and 50 kW. The gas-fired boilers are fully modulating from 100 to 20% allowing it to operate at its highest efficiency, even under part load conditions.
The range is fully condensing and will operate at a nett efficiency of 97%. Units are room sealed and offer a choice of balance flue options and long flue runs make it suitable for applications where traditional models cannot be installed.
Pegasus takes off
Ferroli has added a range of high efficiency floor standing boilers to its commercial heating and hot water series. The Pegasus F2 range is available in outputs from 51 kW to 102 kW to suit most commercial applications. Designed for operation on either natural gas or lpg, the boilers come with fully automatic all-electronic ignition with intermittent pilot light and automatic flame rectification as standard. Units are designed for use in fully pumped indirect heating systems up to a maximum pressure of 5 bar.
The claimed high efficiency of the Pegasus is due, says the company, to its two-stage cast iron design with large finned heat exchange surfaces and stainless steel burner, combined with high insulation for the boiler body. High/low burner operation is also offered and boilers feature a natural draft flue exhaust with an integral draft diverter/wind shield device.
Open range
Tridium has launched what it claims is the industry's first web-based BACnet supervisor. The vendor independent product enables users to view, manage and control BACnet systems and devices from a common platform. The unit supports dynamic graphics, alarm and event logs, status summaries, historical trend logging and changing of control parameters, while providing secure access and an audit trail for facility management.
Tridium has also introduced the BACnet MSTP driver. This software enables RS485 communications to any native BACnet controller irrespective of product type or manufacturer via Tridium's Niagara Framework embedded within one of the company's Jace controllers. This allows BACnet specifiers, and end users to move away from proprietary, single vendor control into an open, multi-vendor, multi-protocol environment.
