A new guide to Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV) has been published by the Off-Highway Plant and Equipment Research Centre (OPERC).

Starting this month, regulations have come into force to limit this risk to operatives (See CPD page 34). Construction managers need to take note, because safety and health of operatives ultimately falls under their remit. Operators must be protected and educated as to the risks associated with their job.

The guide explores hand-arm vibration syndrome, gives an overview of legislation relating to the subject, and gives practical guidance for controlling HAV risk.
