The M22-ESA fingerprint reader from Moeller Electric provides building access control and aims to prevent unauthorised use of machinery.

The unit stores fingerprint data for up to 100 users.

The M22-ESA uses thermal line-sensor technology. Users drag a fingertip slowly over the sensor, which generates a unique code based on the temperature differences between the ridges and grooves of their fingerprint pattern.

The reader then compares the code with the stored fingerprint data. It lights up

a green confirmation LED and produces an output signal, but only if an exact match is found.

The M22-ESA requires two standard 22.5 mm circular holes for installation. It operates from a 24 V DC supply and provides one set of volt-free changeover contacts to indicate when a fingerprint is positively identified.
