Practical for stores

Bosch has added a point-of-sale (POS) interface to its Divar DVRs enabling tracking of transaction details for banking and retail applications.

Communication from the register via an interface to the recorder is over an IP network. Only the interface needs to be kept near the register while the recorder can be kept in the manager's office. Up to four tills can be recorded on a single Divar.

The 16-channel Divar has 600GB capacity allowing recording of 16 cameras at one image per second for more than a month, or longer with fewer cameras.

It has simultaneous full colour recording and playback and is suitable for standalone or multi-site surveillance.

MemoCam DVR from Video Domain will monitor and secure sites that need a quick and easy set-up at an affordable price.

D-V56 and D-V58 are standalone miniature units with integrated video motion detection. Said to be easy to install and easy to hide, they are suitable for covert and mobile recording applications.

VMD allows for recording of events of interest only, reducing storage and enabling events to be stored on removable SD cards of up to 1GB.

D-V58/CELL allows notification of an event via a cellphone or email with the option of a JPEG attachment

Designed specifically for small to medium sized businesses, the Honeywell HRDE 4x4 four-channel DVR provides synchronised audio/video recording and playback.

It is said to be ideal for upgrading from analogue to digital in production shops, service stations, small dealerships and other sites where counter space is limited and up to four areas of coverage are required.

The company says MPEG-4 inter-frame compression delivers "high quality video and increased storage capacity" with the embedded operating system stored in a non-volatile memory chip for trouble free operation.

The latest 4-channel DVR from Samsung Techwin is said to provide smaller CCTV systems with the technology and performance usually associated with larger and more expensive products.

SVR-440 has been designed to look like a consumer product but internally the design and build quality "has not been compromised" and it is a robust, industrial grade product.

It uses MPEG4 image compression and can provide 41 day recording across all four channels. Monitoring includes a two way audio function allowing communication over a network. Triplex functionality enables simultaneous recording, playback and network monitoring. It has a 120GB internal hard disk as standard.

The DG200 series from DynaGuard is a compact (half-rack sized) MPEG-4 DVR with 4 or 8 channel configurations.

Designed for small to medium installations such as retail stores, service stations, homes, convenience stores, parking garages or ATMs, it has triplex operation enabling viewing of live or playback images while recording simultaneously.

It also includes camera plug and play, per-channel configuration, dome control, motion detection, events processing and system integration.

It supports multiple video and two audio channel recording simultaneously and an "easy to use" network function enables remote monitoring, control and playback.

Easy to use Pentaplex

A simple user interface is a feature of the Ganz 4, 8 and 16 channel Pentaplex MPEG4 DVR range from CBC (Europe) Ltd.

The units come with a built-in DVD-RW and HDD providing storage space of up to 500GB.

Its Pentaplex function allows it to view, record, archive locally and view and record remotely.

The operator can view live information and playback information on the same display whilst backing up a previous event. During this time recording is uninterrupted and an additional operator could be viewing via the network connection.

Baxall's Vivid range of DVRs take full advantage of new JPEG2000 compression to give picture quality at lower storage rates.

Baxall says Vivid produces sharper picture quality than its competitors and it can reduce drive sizes by 30 per cent.

Enhancements include recording 100 pictures per second to ensure optimal image capture and a new search feature enabling an incident to be pinpointed via thumbnail picture identification. The event can be pinpointed from over six hours of video within seconds, says the company.

A 31 day auto recording set-up means installers can "quite literally plug it in and leave it to operate".

Substantial savings

Bewator has launched the Eventys Pro 32 "powerful yet simple to use" 32 channel DVR and combined matrix.

The new model is based on the same platform as the existing Eventys recorder range but it includes new and unique features. The company says there are substantial savings to be made in capital costs, labour, programming and support by buying and installing this 32 channel DVR instead of a conventional 16 channel unit.

With up to 1600GB internal storage, it also comes with four analogue outputs as standard (including two quad screen) that will allow up to ten analogue cameras to be reviewed real time simultaneously and an additional SVGA screen that can control all 32 inputs.

Sony has introduced an entry level Network Surveillance Recorder for small to medium sized installations.

The NSR-25 can support up to 20 IP cameras and 120 frames per second. It is the first model in the NSR range with scalable storage capacity which starts at 250GB.

It is said to be "perfect" for the vast majority of installations which, typically consist of between 9-16 cameras, says the company.

The NSR series is designed for multi-camera monitoring, recording and playback. Models can operate as standalone or client/server configuration.

The TeleEye RX Series combines fast video transmission, high resolution recording and flexible connections in one single box.

DS RealVue is a real time offering with 32 channels, 25 images per second per channel at 4CIF resolution all in one box.

The latest PC based DVR from Samsung Techwin is the the SVR-5116 which provides 16 channel recording.

Described as a "clever box of tricks", it is said to have all the benefits of a PC platform with the reliability of an embedded operating system and the security of a completely invisible, embedded windows system.

Penta-plex operation with the integration of MPEG4 recording is said to bring "superb picture quality with excellent recording capabilities".

Pelco has introduced its four channel DX4000 DVR for professionals that is described as "simple, effective and affordable".

It is said to offer the latest in digital video recording for those replacing a traditional VCR and multiplexer combination or installing a new system.

An entry level unit designed to work with broadband networks across a LAN or WAN, it uses

MPEG -4 compression allowing longer storage times.

Benefits also include digital authentication of images for evidence and the ability to control Pelco PTZ cameras.

Panasonic has launched the

WJ-ND300 high speed Network Recorder boasting high image quality, high frame rate and multi channel capabilities.

Providing full support for image storage, replay and live monitoring, its hard disk stores images transmitted by Ethernet from up to 32 networked cameras.

It is both MPEG4 and JPEG compatible and can be connected to up to 32 cameras or up to 16 JPEG cameras. Cameras can be reset from the PC display alone.

The Auto IP Setup makes installation easy and automatically recognises Panasonic's WV series cameras as soon as they are connected to the network. Easy Start also eliminates the need for separate IP addresses for individual cameras.

The WJ-ND300 features up to 1 Terabyte of storage.

Mitsubishi has launched the DX-TL4516E, a 16-channel digital recorder which comes equipped with many advanced features found in the highly regarded DX-TL5000E.

These include triplex functionality and built-in motion detection and dual multiplexer output that allows for simultaneous monitoring of both live and recorded footage.

It also uses the latest JPEG2000 compression for high quality, fine detailed pictures and comes equipped with a built-in USB, CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW drive, which is said to be a unique feature.

Visitors to Dedicated Micros stand at IFSEC 2006 were able to see demonstrated the MultiMode capability of the latest generation Digital Sprite 2 network capable DVR.

MultiMode allows 'dynamic switching' from MPEG4 high quality background recording in motion video to high resolution evidential quality JPEG images on alarm while still streaming in either format from the same camera.

Also on show was TransVu Media, a variant on DM's award winning mobile CCTV recording system, which gives the ability to screen advertising messages and travel information while simultaneously recording for security purposes.

Another Mitsubishi product available is the 16-channel DX-TL5000E recorder.

It features multiple hard disk drive options up to 1TB, triplex recording, recording rates up to 200pps, JPEG2000 compression, motion detection, a DVD/CD writer, optional HDD extension kit, and multi-channel audio recording.

Mitsubishi says it has been built to be highly reliable, and easy to set up and operate via the USB mouse and GUI interface.

Vista's eclipse award winning 360 degree camera has now got its own Vista eclipse DVR which means users can experience all the live features of the camera in playback.

Representing a "major revolution in technology" it gives users full retrospective virtual PTZ control, interrogation and a powerful search function. This allows the whole 360 degree recording to be examined in detail and ensures no critical information is overlooked.
