VSK Electronics has launched the Foxnet IP-based integrated security panel for intruder detection, access control and technical alarm management. It meets EN 50131 European Standards and comes with primary and back-up communications including ethernet, ISDN and PSTN.
Up to eight panels can be interconnected over LAN acting as one system, and it includes advanced bank application features such as safe management, interlock control and ATM access. Wiring can be either bus or star structure, and the panel also gives video integration.
The Foxeye digital recorder and transmitter can work as a standalone system or be integrated with Foxnet and the VSKwin advanced single and multi-site management software.
The latter gives full management of up to 10,000 panels, graphical maps with dynamic icons, full remote control and video verification of alarms.

Nightclub gets a safety boost
Big Brother Broadband, the remote monitoring provider and security installer, has chosen Axis Communi- cations (UK) Ltd to supply the IP surveillance hardware for a major security installation in London's Elysium nightclub at the Café Royal. The network video cameras and servers will form an integral part of an advanced security solution.
The system was designed to prevent unauthorised entry to the club, monitor the club's patrons during opening hours, and provide security surveillance of the premises to guard against break-ins when the club is closed.
The cameras are linked to the nightclub's alarm system to add an extra layer of security. The club will also supplement its 10 existing cameras with 20 AXIS 2100 network cameras to cover all areas of the venue from the main desk and via standard internet browser for remote monitoring.
The new system will be integrated into the existing CCTV system currently operated by the Café Royal security control centre. Two AXIS 2400 video servers and two AXIS 2401 video servers have been selected to enable remote monitoring of the venue's existing analogue cameras.

Improving service
Basewood Security Services has moved into the world of web-cam technology with a new service for customers, giving remote monitoring and surveillance with digital recording and instant notification of any violation on the client's premises.
The benefits of the new services are said to include lower costs, health and safety and other benefits. Using the latest digital recording, it enables a faster and more targeted response to incidents, with trained staff members who can take the necessary action to ensure the safety of the premises.
The remote monitoring system is also equipped with audio communication systems, enabling staff in the monitoring station to communicate with any intruder and inform them they are being monitored. Using the remote access facility, the administrator is able to monitor all activities taking place at the site from any configured system with dial-up capabilities. The cameras are specially configured to detect any motion taking place, and the system has an automatic date and time stamping feature, which prevents tampering of recorded images and provides safer backup, recovery and playback of any event.
All that is required for Basewood to install and operate the web-cam technology are an ISDN telephone line, electric supply and access to the client's site office.

Combining analogue with IP
Pelco has released the VMX300 and VMX300-E video management systems, which are aimed at those seeking to create a hybrid video security system combining analogue video and IP-based video devices.
VMX300 systems provides real-world integration of IP-based digital video into existing analogue technology. It helps users leverage their existing analogue infrastructure while enabling new IP video devices to be viewed and controlled from a common user interface.
Cameras, domes and ptz functions can be easily controlled as well as Pelco switchers, Enterprise Class DVRs, PelcoNET video transmission devices and the NVR300 network video recorder.
VMX300 operates in client-to-server mode with up to 100 devices and the VMX300-E operates in client-to-server, client-to-multiple-server and server-to-server modes supporting up to 2,000 devices. Both VMX300 and VMX300-E can be configured to display a combination of IP video and analogue video through display windows. Analogue video sources not routed through PelcoNet can be viewed in a single display window or in a quad display window, depending on the model selected.
The VMX300 systems come pre-loaded with both server and client software, Pelco device drivers and licences for up to 10 Pelco devices.

Seamless transmission
DVTel has launched the SecureLink network video recording system (NVRS) platform, which is a monitoring, surveillance and recording software system that provides seamless digital video and audio across any IP network.
The platform is a true network-based system, allowing real-time and archived video to be viewed anytime and anyplace with a network connection. When combined with the SecureLink 5500, 6500 and 7500 family of products, the SecureLink NVRS achieves a convergence of the CCTV and IP networks while using cost-effective, off-the-shelf hardware and running Windows NT/2000/XP.
Other features include easy integration with other vendors' security systems, a revolutionary virtual matrix switch, supervisory control and data acquisition and comprehensive system maps and procedures.
They also include a distributed architecture that supports network-based storage on and off the premises and simultaneous live monitoring from multiple stations while supporting up to 32 cameras from a single PC, among others.
The SecureLink NVRS platform comes in three versions. The full-featured SecureLink NVRS Elite is for applications that need a platform to support an unlimited number of cameras with high-end digital video recording features. The mid-range SecureLink NVRS Classic supports systems with up to 50 cameras and the DVTel also offers the SecureLink NVRS View Only, when archiving is not required.

Network storage is here
Pelco has launched the NVR300 network video recorder which provides an integrated centralised recording solution enabling the storage of multiple video and audio transmissions at the same time. It also enables users to store all the data they want by adding additional external storage devices.
Multiple NVR300s seamlessly integrate with local and wide area enterprise networks, and with its Automatic Data Replenishment technology, users will have no worries if a data stream is interrupted due to internet conditions beyond their control. When the NVR is connected to a PelcoNet NET350, ADR allows the NVR the ability to synchronize the data collected from the NET350 to the NVR300. For example, if a disruption of a service occurs, the missing information automatically integrates into the previously stored data stream when the data connection between the NVR300 and the NET350 is restored with no time lapse of video.
Other features include the use of a high-speed embedded SQL database for storing information, enabling the NVR300 to do full-featured searches based on alarms, camera name, date and time. In addition, recording of up to 64 sim-ultaneous video and audio streams, continuous alarm-based recording, full duplex operation over TCP/IP net-works, and digital watermark certi-fication make this a powerful and versatile network storage solution.

Wireless IP on tap
Axis Communications and Proxim Corporation are collaborating to offer cost-efective and high performance IP-surveillance solutions over wireless wide area networking (WWAN).
Using Axis professional network cameras in combination with Proxim's Tsunami high-capacity and cost-effective WWAN solutions allows the security-conscious organisation to economically deploy wireless security surveillance systems while maintaining very high levels of security and reliability.
The solution allows wirelessly connected cameras to be deployed virtually anywhere without needing to dig trenches to install ethernet or fibre cables.
Wireless IP-surveillance can also be deployed across a multi-building site in just a few hours, allowing same-day operation.
Transporting surveillance images via WWAN also makes it possible for large facilities covering vast acres, and sites that have unique georgraphy, such as a high concentration of water of mountains, to quickly deploy an advanced IP surveillance security solution.

Digital logistics
Each MultiScope II handles 16 video channels and together provide the system’s digital recording, transmission and event management capabilities, while five PC workstations provide office staff with a complete overview of all vehicle, loading and storage activity on site.
Barcode data on goods arriving and departing the site are scanned into the warehouse management system as well as being documented on CCTV. If items are lost or damaged, staff can search the 1.2 Tb video database by scan date and time to retrieve critical pictures.
