LOCOG is to recruit senior quantity surveyors to oversee the 2012 Olympic building programme
London's Olympic Games organisers are to hire in-house QSs to oversee key building projects including the stadium and aquatics centre.
The London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games plans to take on seven or eight QSs, engineers and architects by March 2007. The exact number of each profession has yet to be decided.
James Bulley, LOCOG director of venues and infrastructure, said: "We are looking for quite experienced people who will be able to hit the ground running, we are talking about senior project management level."
The appointments will be part of a wider plan to grow the LOCOG staff from 85 people to 120 by next spring. The extra numbers will include specialists in venue planning, Olympic village planning and delivering media centres, plus marketing and administrative staff. All posts will be advertised on the LOCOG website: www.london2012.org.
LOCOG is currently advertising for a venue project manager with expertise in construction programming and project management within the sports sector. The job entails monitoring the progress of venues and ensuring they are delivered on time, plus representing LOCOG in stakeholder and project team meetings. The closing date for applications is 30 June.
LOCOG is responsible for putting on the Olympic event. Its role is distinct from that of the Olympic Delivery Authority, which is overseeing the 2012 building programme.
