With the British Government having run a full-scale chemical attack exercise on the London Underground network, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has now developed and issued guidance notes on chemical security issues
As part of the OECD's plans, its industrialised country member Governments are reviewing their mechanisms for the exchange and publication of chemical security information in a bid to protect citizens from possible terrorist attacks on chemical installations.

An OECD Working Group is due to meet in November to discuss the implementation of recommendations from workshops held in Rome last summer.

The meeting's 120 experts in attendance concluded that "businesses and Governments should inform the public on the possible effects of chemical releases caused by deliberate acts, and work together to improve the prevention of such incidents and response preparations."
