It is with great regret that we announce that Syd Scholefield has passed away.

Syd, a founding Director and Managing Director of Ebor Equipment, was a well-known and highly regarded figure in the glass processing industry.

Syd was associated with the glass industry for most of his life, and in 1981, along with fellow Directors Stephen Boocock, Michael Dunham and John Hodgen, he established Ebor Equipment and helped to develop the company into the successful supplier of machinery and accessories that it is today.

Even after his retirement in 1999, he never lost touch with the industry. However, in the past few years, his health had not been good.

Syd, who was 70, had lived all his life in Huddersfield but loved to travel, especially to Italy where he had strong family connections and had made many friends.

He will be deeply missed both as a friend and colleague. He leaves a wife, Gill, two children and two grandchildren.
