Lovely set of chips

Pixim has launched D2500 Video Imaging System chipset family for use in high-performance security cameras.

The new chipset - consisting of a digital image sensor, digital image processor, and imaging software - offers improved dynamic range, resolution, power consumption and low-light performance over Pixim's D2000 product family.

Among the new features in the D2500 chipset is support for sending video over UTP wiring. The chipset allows security camera developers to introduce wide dynamic range dome cameras based on Pixim's Digital Pixel System technology as well as enhanced traditional and network/IP cameras for the video surveillance industry.

DPS technology converts light to a digital signal directly at the point of capture in the image sensor, enabling each pixel to have independent, optimised exposure times to deliver the highest image quality.

Honeywell goes Wide

Honeywell has launched the HCCWD484X Wide Dynamic camera, designed for use in applications with contrasting light conditions.

It uses patented Next Generation Image capture Technology that converts images from analogue to digital format within each pixel, the instant the image is captured. "The HCCWD484X records each of the 388,000 pixels in optimum exposure time, compared with CCD cameras that record all pixels in a frame with the same exposure time," Honeywell says. "As a result the HCCWD484X gives high quality images with sharp definition and accurate colour, regardless of lighting conditions such as shadow or glare.

"The HCCWD484X includes an improved dynamic range of between 95dB and 120dB and higher frame rates (of between 50-60 frames per second) compared with conventional CCD cameras. The camera also features a 1/3-inch Wide Dynamic Digital Imager, 14-bit digital processing, and records images at 0.4 lux at F1.2 for low light conditions.

"The HCCWD484X camera has been designed to be easily installed and offers five preset scenes: general, fluorescent, indoor, outdoor or user defined – where the user can adjust the dynamic range of the camera to optimise the image depending on the light condition."
