Connell Mott MacDonald has completed Rocket House, the final part of a £6.1m project to renovate the seafront of Cromer in Norfolk.

The project involved the revamp of the pier and promenade, including the installation of a glass lift from the promenade to the cliff top. The 1,000 m2 development also features a restaurant, public amenities and the Henry Blogg RNLI museum.

Connell Mott MacDonald, the building and infrastructure arm of engineering and management consultancy Mott MacDonald, provided building and engineering services to the client, North Norfolk District Council.

Davis Langdon was the QS on the job.

Andrew Long, Connell Mott MacDonald's engineer for the project said: “The curved shape of the building and restrictions on planning meant that it was very tight on space. Facilitating three tenants all requiring their own areas coupled up with the fact that none of the walls line up vertically and the building is curved, all made for some interesting moments.”
