The NICEIC has put forward an application to the Scottish Building Standards Agency (SBSA) to become a scheme provider for Certifiers of Construction (Electrical Installations to BS 7671).

Revised electrical safety standards come into force on 1 May 2005, and unlike Part P in England and Wales, the new Scottish system applies to both domestic and non-domestic dwellings. The SBSA has not made it mandatory for installers to register with a scheme but the changes will provide an alternative to having work that requires a warrant checked by a verifier.

Once the NICEIC application has been given the green light, companies will be able to register with it as an Approved Body.
