Ministers in Scotland have approved the NICEIC as a scheme provider for Certifiers of Construction (Electrical Installations to BS 7671), the revised electrical safety standard introduced in Scotland in May.

The Scottish certification system enables qualified and experienced operatives to be responsible for ensuring compliance with Building Regulations without the need for detailed scrutiny by local authorities.

Director general of the NICEIC, Jim Speirs, said: ”We are delighted to have secured approval as a scheme provider. This, and the expansion of the Edinburgh office, will enable us to offer an even greater service to our electrical contractors and specifiers in Scotland.”

  • The NICEIC Group has acquired training organisation JPD Group. In addition to running IOSH accredited courses, JPD Group will deliver quality and health and safety management training designed specifically for the electrical contracting industry.
