The National Housing Federation aims to have 900,000 homes signed up to its rebranding programme by April.
So far, nearly 100 associations of the 1400 in England have signed up for the "iN Business for Neighbourhoods" project, which aims to boost the image of housing associations.

The NHF wants associations owning a total of half the sector's stock to be part of the programme by April.

Associations in the programme pledge their commitment to the neighbourhoods in which they work, to their customers and to improvement and leadership.

The associations' performance against the pledge will not be monitored at first, but a kitemark with standards could be introduced in a few years' time and tenants will be polled.

The NHF also wants to boost the number of people who would like to live in social housing from 17% and raise the percentage of tenants satisfied with their landlord from 75% to 90% in a year.
