Mike Newton – chief executive of Warrington-based CCTV specialist AD Group, and the founder of Dedicated Micros – has won EN magazine’s prestigious North West Entrepreneur of the Year Award for 2005, having earlier this year scooped Management Today’s Award as Leading UK Entrepreneur from a list of 100 candidates.

Two decades ago, Newton was responsible for bringing the world’s first CCTV multiplexer to the market – now recognised as a major landmark in surveillance history. He has also overseen a huge growth in AD’s turnover, which has risen from £930,000 in 1998 to £93 million in 2004.

Speaking about his latest accolade, Mike told Security Management Today: “The award is a direct reflection of the strength of the team and processes in place at the AD Group, which allow us to offer genuinely innovative CCTV solutions.”
