Interim study by Turner & Townsend and Arup is presented at Thames Gateway Forum: report attached

Consultant Turner & Townsend has been appointed to provide a study on the potential of a low or zero carbon development area across the Thames Gateway.

The company was brought in to carry out the study by the Department of Communities and Local Government and will be working with Arup. The appointment comes via the OGC Environmental Advise, Support and Design Framework.

The team will define what constitutes low and zero carbon for the project and then identify ways in which these emissions can be reduced. It will then produce a range of costed options for achieving low and zero carbon performance.

The group will be looking at any new development on the site up until 2050 as well as looking at alternatives for realising low-carbon performance on existing developments in the area which provides homes for 1.45m people.

The interim report was presented at the Thames Gateway Forum and the final report is expected to be delivered to Government in February 2007.
