Parsons Brinckerhoff brand will be dropped from May
WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff is shortening its name to WSP from this May.
The firm employs more than 36,000 people worldwide with close to a fifth – 7,100 – based in the UK.
Last October, WSP snapped up Mouchel Consulting for £75m from Kier prompting the firm’s UK managing director Mark Naysmith (pictured) to say it was on the lookout for more deals.
He said it was interested in buying more businesses in the project, programme and cost management sectors, after its £24m offer for consultant Sweett Group was gazumped by a £29m bid by rival Currie & Brown last year.
WSP bought Parsons Brinckerhoff back in 2014 when it paid Balfour Beatty £820m for the business. Balfour had bought the business, which was founded in New York more than 130 years ago, five years earlier for £380m.
WSP will continue to remain listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the name WSP Global Inc.
