Michael Trousdell will help lead the firm’s smart buildings and sustainability consulting services
WSP has recruited from rival Arup to bolster its environmental and technology teams.
Michael Trousdell has joined WSP as a director to help lead the firm’s smart buildings and sustainability consulting services.
He will work within WSP’s UK building services practice.
Trousdell joins from Arup where he has spent the previous 13 years, most recently within its smart buildings practice as co-lead.
Before Arup he spent nearly four years as a site manager building four wind farms in Spain and one in Greece.
Based in London, he will be working closely with WSP’s building performance team delivering net zero design with the firm’s structures and services disciplines.
WSP’s smart buildings team is currently working on a number of projects in the commercial property, residential, hospitality and education sectors and is part of the building services practice that is overseen by head of building services, Nick Offer.
Commenting on the appointment Offer said Trousdell’s recruitment would help bridge the gap between the firm’s smart and net zero services.
He said: “Michael’s expertise in smart buildings and energy systems design provides a great combination to assist in closing the energy performance gap that occurs between design and real life operations in buildings.”
