UK-based engineer wins contract on 41-storey tower project in New York
WSP has become the latest UK-based firm to win a role on a 41-storey skyscraper at 425 Park Avenue in New York.
The engineer joins architect Foster + Partners and cost consultant Gardiner & Theobald on the 650,000ft2 project.
It will be the first full-block office scheme on Park Avenue for over 50 years, according to joint clients L&L Holding Company and Lehman Brothers Holdings.
Foster + Partners was announced as winner of a design competition for the scheme in October, beating competition from Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, OMA and Zaha HadidArchitects.
Gardiner & Theobald assisted the clients in running the design contest and has been retained as project and cost manager through to completion of the project.
WSP confirmed the appointment but declined to comment further.
