John Cousins died while working on the bridge in Edinburgh last Thursday
A construction worker who died on the Queensferry Crossing in Edinburgh following an incident at the site has been named as John Cousins.
Cousins, 62, was working for main contractor Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC) – a consortium of Galliford Try subsidiary Morrison Construction, Dragados, Hochtief and American Bridge International – at the time of the incident last Thursday.
Work is usually carried out on the site 24/7, but following the incident the site was closed from 1pm last Friday until Tuesday morning. The Health and Safety Executive and Police Scotland confirmed an investigation is ongoing.
A FCBC spokesperson said: “Staff returned to work on the Forth Replacement Crossing this morning. As part of this, team meetings have been held across the project as a mark of respect to our colleague who died last week.”
The spokesperson added: “Part of the North Tower remains closed while the HSE and Police Scotland investigation continues.”
