Bowmer & Kirkland begins construction of new campus building featuring Arup-engineered steel sculpture
Bowmer & Kirkland has begun construction of a new £40m campus building for South Leicestershire College in Wigston near Leicester.
The building, designed by architect Metz, features a stainless steel sculpture at its "prow" by Diane Maclean.
Engineered by Arup, the sculpture forms part of a new public space, with landscape architecture by Munro + Whitten.
The 11,500m2 building is part-funded by the Learning and Skills Council and completion is due in time for the September 2010 intake of students.
