Timber specialist Pircher has launched Lyptus in the UK, a sustainable eucalyptus hardwood for decking applications
The new system combines Lyptus lumber with Vacsol Aqua, water-based wood preservative, to deliver a durable decking solution which is certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and guaranteed by Pircher for 10 years.
Lyptus timber is claimed to exhibit fewer knots than many other species and the trees are plantation grown and harvested within 14-16 years, compared to the 60 years it takes some tropical species to mature.
Lyptus trees are grown on responsibly managed plantations in Brazil which are certified to the national sustainable forestry standard, Cerflor, which is recognised by the PEFC.
