Contractor appointed to build 87 homes at Orchard Village in Essex
Contractor Willmott Dixon has won a £14.5m contract to deliver the third phase of the Orchard Village housing development in Rainham, Essex.
The development for Old Ford Housing Association is part of its £80m masterplan for the Mardyke estate in Rainham.
The third phase comprises 87 homes, 29 of which will be available for affordable rent, 28 for shared ownership and 30 for sale.
Charlie Scherer, chief operating officer at Willmott Dixon’s housing arm, said he was “proud” of the firm’s work on the project so far.
He said: “During phases one and two, our community engagement was a key feature, so much so that we were recently one of only a few projects in the UK that won a Considerate Constructor Scheme gold award. This is an ethos that will very much continue as we start phase three.”
The development team on the project also includes PRP Architects, planning consultant Barton Willmore, building services firm EngDesign, transport consultant JMP and multi-disciplinary consultant Calfordseaden.
The village is due to be completed in 2015.
