Contractor spells out plans for next 20 years
Willmott Dixon wants to see zero carbon emissions in its own operations by 2030 and its supply chain partners by 2040.
The firm has announced a new series of targets it says will be among the toughest in the industry.
Willmott Dixon’s chief sustainability officer Julia Barrett said all of the firm’s projects would be measured from the beginning of next year to make sure they are hitting emissions targets.
She said the firm’s supply chain was backing the plan and added: “It’s about understanding the products, so they need to help us understand where they have come, from what their embodied carbon content is, right from when they were starting to be created.”
The firm said it is looking to only use suppliers that are operating at a level of net zero carbon by 2040. Its ‘Now or Never’ strategy also includes plans to plant 100,000 trees over the next decade.
