Willmott Dixon has completed its work on Associated Architects-designed Parkside Building for Birmingham City University
Willmott Dixon has completed its work on the £62m Parkside Building for Birmingham City University, with the project handed over last week.
The Associated Architects-designed building forms the first phase of the university’s new city centre campus and will be home to the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD) and School of Media faculties. The building includes on-site renewable energy sources and has achieved BREEAM Excellent rating.
Professor Chris O’Neil, executive dean for the BIAD said: “We’re so excited about the opening of this building, we’ve spent a long time developing what we know will be the coolest school of art and design anywhere in the world.”
Philip Thickett, head of Birmingham school of media, added: “We’re creating the finest media centre between Manchester and London, with world-class, industry-standard facilities, which will allow our students to become the best possible ambassadors for the city.”
Willmott Dixon has been retained to build the £46m second phase of the new campus.
