Constructor will supply its CODE custody suite concept as part of £15.5m project
Willmott Dixon has won a contract with Humberside Police to build a new custodial suite in Grimsby.
The force is using the firm’s pre-designed custody suites – called CODE which have a different number of cells – to replace existing cells at a site in the fishing port and nearby Scunthorpe.
Work on the 36-cell custody suite, along with over 1,000 sqm of office space, will begin in November. The scheme has a £15.5m pricetag.
CODE models has been designed in partnership with NORR Architects and are aimed at tackling a range of issues such as minimising the risk of detainee injury and providing an improved working environment.
Willmott Dixon has also worked with a number of other police forces on the initiative including forces in South Yorkshire, South Wales and the West Midlands.
