Austrian brick manufacturer becomes UK’s third largest supplier with one fourth market share
Austrian brick manufacturer Wienerberger has completed the acquisition of Baggeridge Brick for £89.2m to form the UK’s third largest supplier. It will have a UK market share of around one quarter.
The deal, which was announced last August, will see former Baggeridge chief executive Alan Baxter become chief executive officer of the new company.
Baxter said: “Wienerberger and Baggeridge complement each other perfectly and we are now able to offer our customers a lot more in terms of choice and availability.”
Its head office will be in Cheadle, Greater Manchester and the company will operate from 14 manufacturing sites and two distribution depots.
With 253 plants in 26 countries, Wienerberger turned over £1.66bn in 2006. Baggeridge turned over £55m in the same period.
