Trench Farrow business to project manages construction of £50m research facility destroyed by fire
Consultant White Young Green has won a contract to project manage a £50m scheme to refurbish a section of the University of Southampton destroyed by fire.
A branch at the firm, Trench Farrow will project manage the 10,000 sq m Mountbatten Complex which was destroyed by a major fire back in 2005. The original complex, housing world-leading research facilities of the university’s school of electronics and computer science and optoelectronics research centre have had to be replaced.
Clive Anderson managing director of project and property management at WYG, said: “Although many external influences have had to be considered, we are proud to announce that the building is now emerging out of the ground four weeks ahead of the initial programme.”
Trench Farrow is working with designer CH2MHill IDC and management contractor Bovis with construction expected to complete by early summer 2008.
