The new job follows firm’s completion of the new community fire and police station in Prescot
Wates Construction has been appointed to build a new £4.6m fire station in Merseyside.
The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services’ (MFRS) has handed Wates the contract to build the Saughall Massie Fire Station.
This is the contractor’s second appointment under MFRS’s station mergers programme, following on from its completion of the new Community Fire and Police Station in Prescot.
Plans for the Wirral-based fire station, which has been designed by Ryder Architecture, were approved in July last year.
Wates will build a new single-storey, two-bay community fire station complete with offices, meeting rooms, external training facilities and car parking.
The new station will replace two existing stations in Upton and West Kirby.
Building work is set to commence this month with completion expected by April 2019.
