300-room leisure resort will provide jobs for up to 400 workers

Wates Construction has scooped a £40m contract to build out the Flaxby Country Resort in North Yorkshire for the Skelwith Group.

The 300-room leisure development between York and Harrogate is set to open in 2011, with work expected to start later this year.

Wates said that the project will provide jobs for up to 400 workers.

The 240,000ft² development is set around a pre-existing 27-hole golf course and will include a luxury spa, bars, restaurants and boutiques.
