Wates Construction has won a £161.5m contract with developer Quintain to build 633 homes at Wembley Park.

The contract is the largest ever awarded to Wates on a single site, and is due to be completed in 2020.

The project will include both private and affordable rental homes, alongside homes available for sale.

Of these, 286 homes will be affordable, while 347 will be let by Quintain’s rental management business Tipi.

The news follows the contractor’s completion of the Alto scheme, which was a 362-home stage of the north west London development in June.

Matt Voyce, executive director of Construction Quintain, said: “We continue to deliver Wembley Park at pace, with 3,100 homes currently under construction and an astonishing 22 tower cranes now on site.

“This latest contract marks an exciting phase in the development, helping to bring forward 633 much needed new homes at Wembley Park,” he added.

Quintain has now awarded £1.7bn worth of construction contracts at the Wembley Park development. Quintain has already delivered 1,400 homes, the London Designer Outlet, the Hilton London Wembley Hotel and the refurbishment of the SSE Arena.

Upcoming projects on the site include Box Park Wembley, a 2.8ha park, a multi-use games area, and communal landscaped gardens for future residents.

Wates is a member of Quintain’s main contractor framework along with firms Sisk, McAleer & Rushe, McLaren and O’Keefe. Carillion was on the framework before it went bust.
