Group still to formally announce new chief executive
Wates Construction has appointed commercial director Paul Griffin to its board.
Griffin left the firm four years ago to join developer London Project Consultants but has now returned after first starting at the business as a commercial trainee.
His experience includes private residential, education, commercial, refurbishment and heritage builds.
The firm’s executive managing director of construction Paul Chandler said: “Investing in a strong commercial function is essential for us to continue delivering the best possible service to our clients, regardless of the economic headwinds currently impacting the construction industry.”
Wates has still to formally announce who has replaced David Allen as chief executive of the group after he stepped down in July. It is understood that a boardroom wrangle over the future direction of the business was behind his departure after four years in the role.
Allen has been replaced on an interim basis by chief financial officer Philip Wainwright.
