MDF moulding specialist gains accreditation to Carbon Action standard
MDF moulding specialist W Howard has set the target of reducing its carbon emissions by 7.5%. The firm’s carbon footprint was 2981.23 tonnes in 2007.
W Howard will be awarded full accreditation to Carbon Action, a new standard facilitated and supported by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and Business Support Solutions.
Graham Williams, operation director, said: “Besides reducing our carbon emissions, we are seeing a whole range of direct and indirect benefits such as employee awareness for home life as well as work life, and estimated cost savings of £40,000 per annum.
“It will also make a majo9r contribution towards our aim to achieve ISO 14001 this year.”
The Carbon Action standard is designed to offer a coherent planned approach and a simple step-by-step guide to cutting emissions. It was developed following a successful pilot project in Trafford park lead by the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
The manufacturer of primer mould will join a handful of companies in the North West to gain accreditation to the scheme which will be commercially released later this year.
