VolkerWessels UK is set to diversify its operations in the UK by taking on more work in the marine infrastructure sector
The firm, which this week posted a turnover of €513m (£462) for 2009 compared with €785m (£706m) the previous year, said most of the drop came from a decline in privately funded building projects.
Alan Robertson, chief executive of VolkerWessels UK, said that over the next few years the firm would aim to capitalise on the experience of the larger VolkerWessels group.
He added: “We’ve acquired a cable laying ship, won the contract to do the connections for the London Array wind farm and we are designing a wave power project in Scotland.”
