Two year scheme will cost £34.5m
Vinci Construction UK has been handed a £34.5 million two-year contract by Eastbourne Borough Council to transform Devonshire Park, home to the Aegon International tennis tournament.
The firm said the project sets out to “create a nationally important cultural and tennis destination.”
Work is already underway, and a new conference centre and restaurant, restoration of three listed buildings, improved tennis facilities, a distinct park entrance, and new and improved public spaces will be delivered over the course of the contract.
The project contains “significant logistical challenges” as parts of the building and park will remain in full operation throughout the construction process, according to Vinci Construction UK.
