Work includes demolition of existing buildings and 43 retail and leisure units including a cinema

Vinci Construction has won a £46m contract in West Bromwich to build 43 retail and leisure units and a Tesco Extra superstore.

The Tesco project will be delivered by Vinci’s Midlands building division and will involve the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of a new road link and cinema.

Chris Pape, regional managing director said: “This is a fantastic project to be undertaken by Vinci Construction UK, we are looking forward to rising to the challenge of providing a world class shopping and leisure facility for the people of West Bromwich to enjoy. We will be working in partnership with Tesco Stores to ensure that all works are completed to the highest standard.”

Jonathan Simpson, corporate affairs manager for Tesco, said: “Tesco is delighted to be investing in West Bromwich and helping with Sandwell’s regeneration vision for the town. We are pleased to partner with Vinci on this prestigious project and look forward to seeing our vision for the town brought to life over the next two years.”
