Contractor to do pre-construction design work on four-storey office block
Contractor Vinci has won the contract to do pre-construction design at BNP Paribas Real Estate’s office block at King’s Cross in London.
The firm is also preferred bidder for construction on the project but this will only be awarded after the initial design work is complete. The whole project is worth around £100m.
The firm beat out rivals Kier and Skanska to build the new 51,000m2 office and retail development. BNP Paribas’ real estate division will be based in the block.
The 11-storey building, which is located next to St Pancras International train station, will mostly be occupied by office space with retail units on the lower levels.
Andrew Ridley-Barker, managing director of Vinci Construction UK , said: “This is a highly significant contract for Vinci Construction UK to win and we are delighted to establish a relationship with BNP Paribas Real Estate Property Development in the UK, expanding on the relationship we already have in France.”
Work on the building will start later this year and is due to complete in 2014.
