The Gleeds associate director overlooks constant traffic in Qatar but longs to look over Saddleworth with a pint of Timothy Taylor
Where are you?
Inside the office we’ve just opened in Doha, in addition to a project office a few miles away where we’re providing cost management on the $3.2m Al Wa’ab City mixed use development.
What can you see?
Two cinemas showing Arabic movies (not been in yet – my Arabic is not yet that advanced) and a constant flow of traffic on the C Ring Road leading to the airport (interrupted periodically by screeching tyres and near misses). Plus, pedestrians waiting 10 minutes for the green man to appear on the crossing.
How far up are you?
I am on the ground floor of a two-storey office building.
What’s on your desk?
Lots of stuff that should be in files and the remote controller for the air conditioning.
What are you working on?
Getting out and about Qatar to develop contacts and work opportunities, and completing the kitting out of the office.
What’s your all-time favourite view?
Stood on top of the hills overlooking the villages of Saddleworth with the city of Manchester in one direction and miles of moor in the other – viewed through a pint of Timothy Taylor.
Postscript
