The acquisition of Scott Wilson by American consulting giant URS has been formally completed, propelling the US company into the top 10 of British engineers.

The deal, worth £218m, was announced by URS last Friday. Hugh Blackwood, the former chief executive of Scott Wilson, has been made a vice-president of URS Corporation and senior vice-president of international operations. He said the deal would give URS a “larger global footprint” and greater access to the nuclear power market.
