Mark Bew received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list
URS senior director Mark Bew has left the consultant to focus on delivery of the government’s BIM strategy, he has confirmed.
Bew, who received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list, departs to concentrate on his role as chairman of the government’s BIM group.
The government is working up plans for the roll-out of BIM across all public sector projects by 2016.
Bew said: “It’s fantastic that the [BIM] project has got off the ground and I’m looking forward to helping [the government] deliver it.
“I would like to thank the government team at the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills and the industry team that helped write the Construction Strategy – [my MBE] is a shared award.”
Bew added he would also be targeting consultancy work through Engineering Construction Strategies, which he recently founded, and working on a Phd in strategic construction and BIM.
