Developer admits it has laid of 21% of its staff and put two Liverpool schemes on hold
UK regeneration specialist Urban Splash has confirmed that it has cut over 60 staff jobs following a two-month consultation process.
Tom Bloxham, chair at the development firm, told the Financial Times that 21% of its 280 staff have been laid off. Urban Splash admitted in September it was making redundancies but has previously refused to disclose how many members of staff would be affected.
A spokeswoman for the firm said that, counter to rumours at the time, the developer was closing none of its offices. Urban Splash, which had a turnover of £56.9m last year, has postponed work on two schemes in Liverpool – the 740-flat Tribeca project and 276-home Littlewoods scheme.
Bloxham told the FT that Urban Splash has starting renting homes as a way out of the credit crunch. The spokeswoman said the company was not withdrawing completely from any of its proposed schemes.
