Former FWA West directors plead not guilty in £3.5m Ujima fraud case
Former Ujima Housing chief Kenneth Kerr and former FWA West directors Alan Boswell and Greg Causer appeared at Southwark Crown Court yesterday charged on a number of counts relating to an alleged fraud at the social housing landlord, which collapsed in 2008.
The three are set to stand trial on 23 January 2012 and a further case management hearing was set for 23 June 2011, also at Southwark Crown Court.
Rose Avwunu, a defendant in a separate Ujima related fraud case will stand trial again after a jury was previously unable to reach a verdict on her case.
She will appear at Isleworth Crown Court on 4 July accused of two counts of money laundering. In the previous trial, her co-defendant in the case, which relates to an alleged £208,000 fraud at Ujima, was found guilty.
Paul Campayne was last month sentenced to two and a half years in prison after being convicted of seven counts of money laundering.
Police are still trying to trace Rose Avwunu’s husband George, who absconded from bail and has not yet stood trial.
