Costain and Skanska joint venture and Carillion bag major contracts from civils framework
A Costain and Skanska joint venture has won the contract to build Crossrail’s Royal Oak Portal - the largest job on Crossrail’s enabling works framework.
The package, part of the civils element of the early works, will see the joint venture constructing a tunnel portal just west of Paddington in London. Trains will arrive here from Maidenhead and Heathrow, entering the tunnel system to travel underneath the centre of the capital.
Meanwhile, Carillion will take on the Paddington Integrated Project, which includes site facilities, piling and groundworks at the station, readying it for the main works.
Both jobs are part of the civils framework of the early works at Crossrail, for which seven teams – Laing O’Rourke, Kier, Morgan Est, Murphy and Balfour Beatty also qualified.
Other contracts awarded include:
- Demolition at Farringdon’s eastern ticket hall – Keltbray
- Demolition at Bond Street eastern & western ticket hall – Select Plant Hire
- Whitechapel working platform over East London Line – Kier
