Construction Products Association guide aims to standardise safety procedures on crane use

A new best practice guide for maintenance and inspection of tower cranes was launched today by the Construction Products Association (CPA).

The guide, produced by the CPA’s Tower Cranes Interest Group (TCIG), is aimed at all firms involved in the use of tower cranes, from hire companies to main contractors.

The Health & Safety Executive has highlighted inconsistencies in the on-site management of tower cranes by main contractors as a particular safety issue. The guide is hoped to remove such inconsistencies.
