Leading industry figures have pledged to improve tower crane safety, as called for by Building’s Safer Skyline campaign.

The Strategic Forum’s health and safety task group met manufacturers, crane operators and safety groups on 9 August and agreed a seven-point plan emphasising training and maintenance regimes. Most sections of industry were at the meeting but trade unions were not asked to attend. A Ucatt spokesperson said: “It was somewhat short-sighted that we weren’t invited.”
