ConstructionSkills expects a flood of enquiries from workers who have missed the January deadline
Thousands of workers may have failed to meet the Major Contractors’ Group’s January deadline for full CSCS skills card compliance on sites, ConstructionSkills has estimated.
The training body which administers the CSCS scheme has been forced to increase staff numbers on its CSCS hotline in anticipation of a flood of enquiries from workers who have failed to meet the deadline.
The MCG announced in August that from 1 January all workers would require CSCS or affiliated cards to access MCG sites.
The MCG set the January target in collaboration with Skills Direct, the one-stop-shop service for qualifying workers set up by CSCS and ConstructionSkills last year. The MCG has said that the ruling will be “strictly adhered to” as it launches its compliance programme.
